SUP trends 2024
Outlook 2025 - Review 2024
What can we expect in 2025?
A new product on the market is inflatable Prone Boards. "Prone" means "lying on the stomach" and is well established in surfing. This sport, which has slowly made its way from Australia to France and now to Europe, involves paddling with the arms while lying or kneeling. It bears some resemblance to freestyle swimming, and many swimmers appreciate an inflatable Prone SUP for their winter training. Gliding just above a wintery, mirror-smooth lake is a wonderful feeling, and you hardly get wet.
Some athletes even master this PRONE SUP while standing. Due to its narrow width, it allows for incredible speeds.

The general public will likely continue using the classic inflatable SUP. Beginners who purchased their SUP from a discount store may discover their talent and enjoyment for this trending sport.
With some practice, even occasional paddlers realize that a narrow touring SUP like the SHARK is not as difficult to ride as it seems. It allows for paddling with significantly less resistance, helping the paddler achieve greater speed.
In 2024, we hope to see more opportunities for SUP racing. Most event organizers now focus on a broad participant base and offer "Inflatable" categories where ambitious recreational paddlers can compete. The Airboard ROCKET was specifically designed for such races. With dimensions of 14“ x 28“, it is one of the fastest inflatable race SUPs on the market. Thanks to the new PolyTEC stringer, it is even stiffer, allowing for a more direct power transfer when paddling.
Besides lakes, many paddlers have now also discovered rivers. Previously, due to single-layer construction, they were hesitant to venture into this type of adventure. A river SUP like the STREAM or even a whitewater SUP like the STORMRIDER is perfect for such excursions. With the right board, any body of water can be explored safely.
The popularity of Stand Up Paddling as a trend sport was evident last summer at various lakes. An inflatable SUP is very practical, but a complete set is still somewhat bulky and, at 10-12kg, not exactly light luggage. With the STRIDER, we have halved both the pack size and the weight. Since 2022, these models have been available in a new design. Curious? Then test our new models and be convinced by the lightweight design.
An affordable all-around SUP like the CRUISER is a great way to get started in paddle sports. Often, after one season of paddling, people get a better sense of the direction they want to pursue.
Many paddlers are now familiar with their local lakes. However, with an inflatable SUP, it is easy to explore new lakes as well. But where is the best place to launch? What is there to discover? Are there restrictions on where one can paddle? Since the 2022 season, we have developed SUP 3.0 with an integrated guide. The Airboard SKYLINE is now available in three trendy designs, each featuring an aerial perspective of different Swiss lakes. A QR code on the SUP provides access to detailed information about various lakes, which can be downloaded directly to a smartphone.
Using GPS navigation, users can access the following four details:
1. Where am I?
2. What is there to see?
3. Where is the best place to land?
4. Which areas are restricted?
This function will now be available on the platform www.paddle-spots.com and will be continuously expanded. More water bodies across Europe are being added regularly.
We look forward to an amazing 2025 season with you!
